Partnering with Businesses to Support the Deaf Community
HIS Sign is committed to advocating for the Deaf communities in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Washington, DC as well as nationwide by promoting equal access to businesses through our Deaf Friendly Certification Program.
Our certification process involves:
A free, one-hour training in Deaf culture, working with interpreters, and the importance of clear communication to the Deaf community for management and employees.
A commitment by participating businesses to provide Video Remote Interpreting for initial customer interactions and on-site interpreters for more in-depth transactions.
Upon completion of this training, participating businesses will be presented with a certificate to proudly display.
Certified businesses will be listed on our Deaf Friendly business web page with a link to your website.
Part of our commitment is to work with you on ways to promote your business through advertising and holding events tailored to the Deaf community.
Make your business more accessible to the Deaf community. Show the Deaf community and the community at large that you care. Certified businesses and HIS Sign will work together as a team to get the word out.
