While HIS Sign encourages interpreters to pursue certification, we do work with experienced, non-certified interpreters. Whether certified or not, all of our interpreters are required to successfully pass our remote screening, which is evaluated by third-party RID certified evaluators.

We accept EIPA, VQAS and RID certifications. Different clients have different certification requirements. Interpreters receive job broadcasts based on their level of experience and certification.

HIS Sign believes in quality interpreters providing quality services. The remote screening typically takes about one hour and is conveniently completed over Zoom. Five videos (ethical questions, 2 English to ASL, 2 ASL to English) are recorded for the third-party evaluators to review. You will need a computer with a camera and strong internet connection to access Zoom, email and YouTube.

No, we do not have a formal screening process for Deaf Interpreters. Resumes will be reviewed for strong qualifications based on experience and education.

Yes, we are constantly looking to grow our pool of CSTs with a focus on classroom and business settings. We do not have a formal screening process for CSTs. We rely on references, documented experience and certifications. Please note that some school systems require CSTs to be certified.

I have passed the written portion of the RID exam but have not yet taken the performance exam. Will that be recognized as having a RID certificate?

Yes. The majority of our onsite assignments are located in those states. However, we do receive requests for onsite services outside of the DMV. In addition, we offer virtual interpreting services to meet the needs of our clients.

Yes, we offer virtual interpreting services in a variety of settings. Interpreters must complete a brief compliance meeting over Zoom prior to being approved to provide VIS for our clients. Contact registration@hissign.com for more information.

In response to the Covid-19 outbreak,

HIS Sign is now offering Virtual Interpreting Services (VIS) to assist our clients and the deaf community.
